Here from your Tik Tok community! Excited to follow you on here and read your writing. Thanks for being vulnerable and showing us the other side of writing as a career.
I am following you on all other platforms, but am a recent convert to the benefits of Substack, so happy to be following along here, too. I’m sorry to hear about the book. I recently had an opportunity that I thought was in my grasp fall through and in spite of my huge disappointment at the time, I’m now looking at it as an opportunity for other things to come into my life. Not sure if you’re ready for that yet but thought I’d share. Hope you’re doing okay.
I'm so sorry that happened, Eliza! I do believe lost opportunities does make room for other opportunities, and I'm beginning to look forward to discovering what these other opportunities are. Rooting for you, too!
I, for one, am thrilled to have you back on Substack more regularly! I'm sure this isn't the outcome you wanted or expected, but I truly believe that newsletter and video is the future and you'll have as much as, if not more, impact in this format than with a book.
Aw, I'm glad you're thrilled! My ultimate goals are connection and impact, so I'll be aspiring towards that through all mediums--newsletter, video, and book!
you could never be a flop to me 💛 you had such kind ideas and thoughts for me when I messaged you years ago after disappointing 1L grades. you encouraged me to keep going and I am now at a big law firm as a first year associate and passed the bar on the first try. you’re the blueprint and the inspiration all the time!
It feels weird to think about it, but I have been following you for a couple of years now, and I am very happy I will get to read you more frequently. You are always so insightful and able to express things I have often thought about but would not have been able to write down coherently. I am sorry to hear about the book. Having tried and failed at some stuff in the past (which I feel like is the universal human experience haha), when I look back I realize that the trying part is actually what made me grow both as a person and in my abilities.
Been a follower since before you launched your book and will definitely be sticking around after! Excited for this next era Cece (especially if it means more Substack posts!)😊
Cece, you are an inspiration and testament to resiliency! This is not a flop era but rather a rebirth. Something even better than you would have imagined will come out of this publisher divorce. I can feel it! ✨
Hey girl! I've been watching you/reading your emails for a little while now and I just want to say thank you for putting yourself out there and also for being vulnerable about these experiences and emotions that you're going through. While this book with this publisher didn't work out, that doesn't mean it's a personal failing. AT ALL! It just means that this one thing didn't work out. There are so many other opportunities coming your way. You're brilliant and have genuinely wonderful things to say. This doesn't reflect anything on your intelligence, personality, worth, etc etc. I think comparing it to a break up is so on the nose. I am also in a very similar position to you where what I once thought was my dream job fell through and it wasn't until I went through losing it and taking a step to reflect that I saw it as an opportunity to let other things into my life. It's so much easier said than done, but you're not alone, and you're brilliant, and you have a whole community of people rooting for you <33

Welcome!! One thing I will always endeavor is being honest about the ups and downs of career. Thank you for watching and now reading <3

(To be clear I'll be thrilled to read a book of yours eventually, just don't want you to think of substack/youtube as lesser than!)
I’m proud of you, Cece, for being so vulnerable. I’m cheering you on, always xoxo
I love you, Anna <3
So sorry to hear this :(
A set back, sure, but I have no doubt you'll learn from this and have it impact other facets of your life for the better Cece.
Thank you <3 I am slowly moving out of my depressive state and beginning to think the same

I'm so sorry to hear this but I commend your openness and bravery in sharing. <3
Thank you, Olivia! It's the only path which feels right, because isn't writing about connection?
This is really brave and great. Thank you.
Omgosh thank YOU for reading! I adore your work!
