Cece! This was such a fascinating and insightful read. I’m very much not in the Biglaw world, but everything you’re discussing here — fear, greed, capitulation — is (scarily) relevant across industries. Including creative ones! Really appreciate your voice and analysis in this.

Ugh, say it ain't so!! My naïveté is showing... I very much revered the legal and creative industries as having mission and principles. And while I'm sure players in those industries do, it's jarring to see how fear and greed so easily control us all. Thank you so much for your insight, Marina!

>Why are Biglaw firms striking deals with the Trump Administration in the first place? Because the Administration proactively targeted 20+ Biglaw firms through executive orders and an EEOC letter.

Is it possible that a constituency within the leadership of these firms actually *wants* to get rid of DEI, which is the Trump administration's principal demand? And the threat of federal reprisals is just giving them a convenient excuse to do so?

Oh, absolutely... I'm sure some of the Old Guard prefer the pre-DEI world and hope this brings law firms back to how they were before in many ways.
